Building Notes

This was one of several apartment buildings and hotels designed by J. Lister Holmes in the 1920s. Others included the Sovereign Apartments, Roosevelt Apartments and Lorraine Hotel.

The Dorchester, like many hotels of the day, maintained its own restaurant and barber shop (both located at 1009 Pike Street). (See Seattle City Directory, 1927, p. 545.)

Another hotel, the Homewood Suites by Hilton, was built at 1011 Pike Street, on the site of the Dorchester.
