Morgan Reid was the architect of this speculative 5-bedroom, 3-bath dwelling at 8806 SE 78th Street on Mercer Island, WA. The building had a sprawling plan, whose first floor contained 2,077 square feet and 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a family room, breakfast nook and formal dining room. The basement floor was not fully finished but had an additional 890 square feet ; this included another bedroom with bath, recreation room and a large space suitable for miscellaneous tasks. Paul Strode served as the house's general contractor. His son, Richard Strode, an art teacher at Redmond High School in 1967, designed the entry hall's light fixture.
The house had extensive outdoor living spaces; three decks on the first floor measured 890 square feet alone.
