This seven-story office building with its busy, "computer punch card" array of windows, was designed by IBM's in-house architect and product designer, Eliot Noyes (1910-1977). Noyes used pre-cast concrete panels to serve as sun breaks in this bright climate. He felt that each office's series of small windows would not admit an objectionable amount of sun into work spaces. Additionally, these thick panels also may have provided some acoustical insulation from the noise of jet engines at nearby LAX.
