Originally founded in the Seattle, WA-area, the Stuart Anderson's Black Angus Restaurant chain was bought by Saga Corporation in the 1970s. After the acquisition, Saga opened many new locations across the US. In 06/1986, Saga, itself, was bought by Marriott Corporation which promptly sold its restaurant divisions (Stuart Anderson's Black Angus, Grandy's, Spectrum Foods, Spoons Grill and Bar and the Velvet Turtle) to American Restaurant Group (ARG) between 08/1986-03/1987. In 1986, there were 117 Stuart Anderson steak houses in the U.S. By 2010, Black Angus Steakhouses had dropped Stuart Anderson's name and operated as an independent entity headquartered in Los Altos, CA; 46 restaurants served diners in six states, AZ, HI, WA, CA, AZ and NM. This outlet in City of Industry was not one of the 30 CA restaurants operating in 2010.
