An article in the Architectural Forum described this second control tower in 1962: "The control tower...is as large as an office tower, which, in fact, it is. The walls of the tower are shielded from the sun by a second outer wall of slender vertical louvers." (See "New Airport Design, in the U.S. and Abroad," Architectural Forum, 117, 07/1962, p. 81.)
