This City of Seattle began construction of this wood-frame, approximately 500-foot-long viaduct in 1938, finishing officially on 09/28/1939. It allowed cars to easily navigate up the steep rise just north of the University of Washington Campus.
The 45th Street Viaduct spans the section of 45th between 25th Avenue NE and 22nd Avenue NE.
A seismic upgrade to the viaduct occurred between 2009-2010.
