The Mechanics Savings Bank #2 stood at the corner of Market Street, Turk Street and Mason Street.

Building History

This Mechanics' Savings Bank replaced a temporary one located at 143 Montgomery Street that was used into 1908. The bank previous to this was destroyed in the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 04/18-19/1906.

Building Notes

This bank featured a Neo-classical facade, like most of its era, in this case, a composition with a double-height pair of columns placed in antis. The third story was highlighted by protruding courses above and below it. The top floor featured an elaborate cornice.
