Henry C. Smith designed this three-story, Tudor Revival apartment building for A.J. Folk. The first two floors of this narrow, gable-roofed building were sheathed in clinker brick; the top story was half-timbered. Smith was well-known as a designer of apartments for San Francisco's steep hillside settings.
