Overview

Constructed in 1923-1924, this second Chelan County Courthouse stood on the southwest corner of Memorial Park. Other public buildings were also clustered around this park including the Wenatchee Public Library, Chelan County Jail and the Chelan County Sheriff's office.

Building History

This was the second county courthouse in Chelan County. The first, the former Clark Hotel, was sold to the county in 1900 and functioned as its legal center for 24 years before being replaced by this building designed by the Spokane architectural firm of Morrison and Stimson.

Building Notes

The Courthouse was a rectangular building resting on a rusticated masonry base. Upper floors were sheathed in brick. Pilasters stood between windows on the second and third floors, with windows on the third story being arched. A small attic story terminated in a cornice and parapet.
