Overview
The Oregon Improvement Company, headed by German immigrant Henry Villard, erected Pier Shed B by 1882 on the southern side of Seattle's Elliott Bay Waterfront. A shallow arched roof covered the shed that served as a capacious warehouse for Villard's combined railroad (the Columbia and Puget Sound Railroad) and shipping empire. The shed was a large, shallowly-arched structure that served as a warehouse.
