This dwelling housed a pioneer family, present in Seattle's Pioneer Square area in the 1850s. It was one of the first six buildings to populate what became Downtown Seattle, WA. The Globe Hotel later took its location on the southeast corner of Commercial Street (1st Avenue South) and Main Street. The Conklin House was located one block west of the South Block House, an early protective garrison located at the corner of Occidental Avenue South (2nd Avenue South) and Main Street.
