This long, stucco-faced, two-story building had a cross-gabled roof covered in Spanish tile. The main roof had a side gable configuration, although two pavilions on each end had gable-front orientations. Between the end pavilions, an arcade of rounded arched opened an inset, first-floor porch. The second floor did not have arches, but also had two large, deeply inset porches on either side of a central bank of windows. The end pavilions had an Italianate arched pattern incised into the wall, each floor lit by two pairs of windows. These upper floor windows followed the curvature of the incised arch. With its arched openings, incised blind arches and simple ornamentation, the Convalescent Cottage was a fine example of the then-popular Mediterranean Revival Style. It appears to have been built c. 1910.
