In 1916, Florence Ward was a private sanatorium and surgical hospital with 47 beds. Only 430 patients were treated in 1916. The building and grounds had an approximate value of $175,000 at that time.
This three-story block was designed as a Federal Style townhouse with arched windows on the first floor. Many windows on the upper two floors were fronted by wrought iron balconies.
