The Willamette Pulp and Paper Company built this mill in 1889. The property was later bought by the Crown Zellerbach Corporation and operated by it between 1928-1986. Crown Zellerbach, in turn was sold, to the James River Company, who sold the plant in 1996. For one year, the West Linn factory was idled. Divesting itself of labor unions, the West Linn Paper Mill reopened in 1997.
