With its flat roof and 1-story layout, the house does have the characteristics of post-war modern houses by Paul Hayden Kirk, Bassetti and Morse and others. The original owners were an engineer named George Herrold and his wife. A building permit was issued on 02/19/1949, and the completion date was in 11/1949. By 2010, there had been two subsequent owners of the house. (Much of the information above was graciously provided by the current owner, Susan Bryer, via telephone, 08/02/2010.)

Like many houses built for World War II vets and their new families, this house originally had a small floor plan, with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. It probably had approximately 1,000 square feet, typical at this time when there were post-war shortages of building materials and veterans took out modest VA loans. In 2010, this house contained 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and 2,560 square feet (1,760 on one floor and 800 in a finished basement) on a 12,760-square-foot (0.29-acre) lot.

An addition was made to the house in 1959 designed by George Herrold based on drawings made by his wife, who read popular homes magazines at the time.
