Peter Walker of the San Francisco, CA-based landscape architecture firm, Sasaki, Walker and Associates, worked with Bruce Graham of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill's Chicago Office on the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Corporation's World Headquarters in Kalamazoo, MI, between 1957-1961. This monumental symmetrical building was laid out on 100 rolling acres of southwestern Michigan farmland. The property did not follow the building's symmetry, instead featuring irregular clusters of trees set amidst undulating lawns and three large ponds, resembling an English landscape garden.
