Building History

Whitehouse and Price, the Spokane-based architects for a number of university buildings at the State College of Washington, the University of Washington and Idaho University, designed Wegner Hall, constructed just before and during World War II. It originally housed the College of Veterinary Medicine at the State College of Washington (WSC). The College of Veterinary Medicine continued to use the building in 2025.

In 2025, the Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering also occupied space in Wegner Hall.

Alteration

An addition, estimated to cost approximately $103,200, created new space for a reading area and book stacks for WSU's College of Veterinary Medicine. (See Washington State University Libraries, Manuscripts, Archives and Special Collections, "Washington State University (Pullman) Buildings – History: Wegner Hall," accessed 08/14/2025.) The Animal Health Library was moved in 08/2023 Room #170 of Wegner Hall to the Owen Science Library. (See Washington State University.edu, "Wegner Hall," accessed 08/14/2025.)

Phillip L. Jacobson (1928-2025), of the Seattle, WA-based architecture firm, TRA Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Interiors, served as the Partner-in-Charge for the renovation of Wegner Hall c. 1982. This remodeling enabled the addition of forced-air ventilation into the building, at a cost of about $8,600,000.
