This private high school was initially two schools located near to each other: the California School of Mechanical Arts and the Wilmerding School of Industrial Arts. They gradually merged operations becoming Lick-Wilmerding High School. The institution moved to this new campus in 1955.
In 2010, approximately 440 students in grades 9-12 attended Lick-Wilmerding High School. The faculty included 67 full-time teachers, 50 with M.A. degrees and 7 with Ph.D.s.
