The Redemptionist Fathers founded this church at the corner of Kearny Boulevard and Stephens Street; they allocated $20,000 to build a church building bearing Romanesque, Gothic and Mission Revival Style features; the Saint Alphonsus of Ligouri Congregation was formed in 1908.
