This was a small, one-story building with a loft, designed as guest quarters adjacent to the main cabin on Whidbey Island, WA. The firm of Van Horne and Van Horne enjoyed a long association with the Blacks, helping them to finish their main cabin in the 1950s. Audrey Van Horne supervised one of Black's sons, who served as contractor for the project.
