In 1926, a Yakima, WA, investor, James B. Maxwell, bought this 1-story, brick-faced row of stores on Phinney Avenue at North 62nd Street from L. Ubaghs. Maxwell paid approximately $25,000 for the retail block.

This 4,600-square-foot series of retail storefronts had an assessed valuation of $761,200 in 2010. It was a wood frame building with brick veneer and, in 1926, had space for 6 retail stores.

The sidewalk canopy that once sheltered pedestrians has been removed; boards have been attached to the upper portion of the facades for signage.
