Lawrence L. Frank and Walter Van de Kamp, well-known Los Angeles restaurateurs, opened Lawry's The Prime Rib Restaurant #1 in 1938 at 101 La Cienega Boulevard (on the east side) in Beverly Hills, CA. Having outgrown the first location, Frank and Van de Kamp secured property across the street on the west side for Lawry's The Prime Rib #2. It operated here until it moved back across the street to its original property in 1993, Lawry's The Prime Rib #3.
