Lawrence L. Frank and Walter Van de Kamp, well-known Los Angeles restaurateurs, opened Lawry's The Prime Rib Restaurant #1 in 1938 at this location on the east side of La Cienega Boulevard in Beverly Hills, CA. Having outgrown the first location, Frank and Van de Kamp secured property across the street for Lawry's The Prime Rib #2. It operated here from 1947-1993. The restaurant moved back across the street to its original property in 1993, becoming Lawry's The Prime Rib #3.
