This was one of the main Hoovervilles that sprang up during the Depression in Seattle, WA. Another major encampment of homeless grew on Alaskan Way, south of Downtown. The Interbay Hooverville occupied marginal land located next to two large municipal dumps at 16th Avenue West and Gilman Avenue, and at 22nd Avenue West and West Garfield Street.
