A triad of King County, the City of Seattle and a private real estate development firm provided the money to erect this bridge, which replaced a previous wooden span erected in the 1890s. It crossed the Duwamish River at 1st Avenue South at South Michigan Street.
When the course of the Duwamish River was shifted in the mid-1910s, the bridge had its configuration changed to adjust to the new topography. The bridge's drawbridge lifting mechanism was updated in 1929.
Demolished; it was destroyed in 1956 to make room for a new bascule bridge.
