The bank operated in the building from 1911 until the mid-1930s. In 1935, A.R. Bowman purchased the property in 1935, running his title and insurance agency and subsequent businesses in it until 1970. His family donated the building to Crook County in 1971.

Levies in Crook County raised money for operations costs and renovations of the museum passed in 1976, 1988 and 1998.

Due to the passage of a levy in Crook County in 1988, the Crook County A.R. Bowman Museum was renovated in 1992. A new roof was applied to the museum in 2000.
