The Shelburne Inn was originally a three-story, wood-frame building covered by a cross-gabled roof.
The residence that formed the original nucleus of the Shelburne Inn was erected in 1896; in 1911, the original building was moved by horses across the street to be joined with a former residence to add capacity.
