Overview
The architectural firm of Kysor and Mathews planned the Cardona Block to replace burned structures on Main Street in Downtown Los Angeles, CA, in mid-1875.
Building History
The Los Angeles Daily Herald of 07/10/1875 had a note about the Cardona Building: "Kysor & Mathews have made the plans for the Cardona block, on the burnt district, on the east side of Main street. It will be three-stories high, and quite an ornament to the street."
Building Notes
The dentist William Hazeltine had his office in rooms #6 and #12 of the Cardona Block in 1878. (See Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1878, [Los Angeles: Mirror Printing, Ruling and Binding House], p. 8.)
