In 2007, Eddie Bauer moved its corporate offices from Redmond, WA, to Lincoln Square in Downtown Bellevue, WA. It signed a 15-year lease for 220,000 square feet of space; in early 2009, the company cut 70 jobs at its headquarters, leaving 420 full-time employees at the Lincoln Square offices in 08/2009. Eddie Bauer began its outdoor clothing business in Seattle, WA, in 1920. It was bought by the catalog retailer, Spiegel, in the early 1990s, but the larger firm filed for bankruptcy in 2003; Eddie Bauer emerged from these proceedings in 2005 as an independent enterprise, but fell victim to the serious economic slump of 2008-2009; it filed for bankruptcy in mid-2009.
