This site later was used by the United States Army Signal Corps Spruce Products Division for a large lumber mill in the late 1910s. This later plant was operated by Rayonier Incorporated from 1930-1997.
This sawmill had closed by 1893. In 1917, its site was utilized for the United States Government Sawmill, Port Angeles, built during World War I to produce lumber for military aircraft.
