According to University of Washington architecture students, Lillian L. Randolph and Robert S. Hunter, "The University Shopping District: A Review and a Forecast,:" "Plans are now underway for the construction of a new shopping center, University Village, at East 45th Street and 25th Avenue Northeast. There will be between 35 and 38 stores, with an expected gross income between $12-15-million a year. A department store, supermarket, variety store, and two banks are some of the stores which are planned for the center. The amount of retail space will be about 200,000 square feet., which is the additional amount that will be needed by 1970, as determined by this study." (Lillian L. Randolph and Robert S.
