Begun in 01/2007, this $130 million Orthopedic Facility took the place of the demolished Swedish Medical Center Annex Building at 601 Broadway on the First Hill Campus. The steel and glass building was to have 7 floors above ground and 4 below for parking. The new building was to contain: 84 new inpatient beds (56 to begin with and 28 to be included in the future), 10 dedicated orthopedic operating rooms, a dedicated sterile-processing area, 15 flexible pre-operative/recovery beds, 13 post-anesthesia care-unit beds, an outpatient pharmacy, a pre-admission area, conference rooms and a café.

In 01/2007, the proposed timeline for the Orthopedic Facility was as follows: Annex building vacated, 10/2006; demolition, mid-11-12/31/2006; groundbreaking ceremony, 01/05/2007; excavation begins, 01/2007; concrete/steel pour, 03/2007; completion and move in, spring 2008; building open, early summer 2008;
