Bellevue, WA-based developer, Basil Vyzis, purchased the Villa Plaza Shopping Center in 1985; he preserved 515,000 square feet of existing anchor tenant space and demolished the remainder. In addition, he added a 682,922-square-foot shopping mall to the complex, calling it Lakewood Mall. Anchor tenants of the new Lakewood Mall included the following department stores: Emporium, Mervyn's, Frederick and Nelson, and Lamonts.
Partially demolished in 2001. It was replaced by the Lakewood Towne Center commercial development.
