This facility operated in Kent for about 50 years, from 1941-1991; Birmingham Steel Company of Birmingham, AL, purchased Salmon Bay in 1991, and closed it, moving some of its workers to the former Seattle Rail Car Company (also known subsequently as Bethlehem Steel and Seattle Steel) Plant at 2424 SW Andover Street, Seattle, WA.
