This school, founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church, had its choice of locating in either Port Townshend, WA, or Tacoma, WA, after being chartered 03/17/1888. Puget Sound University began operations in 09/1890 with 88 students; this early experiment ended when Puget Sound merged with Portland University, and its materials were transported to the Oregon campus, c. 1898.
