This 224,000-square-foot research building, costing $71.5 million, opened in 05/1995; it occupies a spot on the west side of the Health Sciences Center. Originally, the building housed Alzheimer's Disease research labs, a genetic medicine center, a neural signaling center as well as the Department of Molecular Biotechnology, at that time chaired by Dr. Leroy Hood.
