Camarillo High was named for Adolfo Z. Camarillo (1864-1958), who operated a large agricultural operation in the area and was a patron for the local Catholic Church and educational causes. Camarillo was known as the "Bean King" of California and "the last Don," as he was one of the last landowners running an intact Mexican land grant rancho.
