Building Notes

This symmetrical, hipped-roof grammar school stood four stories tall with two slightly taller bell towers (housing stairways) positioned on the narrow ends of the rectangular building. The school was completed in 1899, according to the plaque over its main entry.

Alteration

Renovation completed in 1990 by Domenech, Hicks and Krockmalnic, Architects, Boston, MA, for the Quincy-Geneva Community Development Corporation; the Phillips Brooks School was adapted for use as affordable housing. Interior spaces were reconfigured to create 29 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units.
