On 04/16/2009, Medford's Rogue Valley Mall was one of three mall properties in OR (including Pioneer Place in Portland and Salem Center in Salem) named in the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filing of General Growth Properties, Incorporated. General Properties of Chicago, IL, fell into $27 billion of debt, in part for its rapid purchases of other real estate entities during the early-mid 2000s.
