Building History

This design by Portland architect Henry Hefty, Sr., (1858-1915) proved too grand and expensive for Portlanders to erect.

Building Notes

Unbuilt. In the end, Hefty's design proved too costly, and was replaced by a more modest design from the Portland architectural firm of Whidden and Lewis. Whidden and Lewis had just gotten the commission to build the large and prestigious Portland Hotel a year before.
