This brick-sided, templar building originally housed the Snoqualmie Falls Power transformer serving Tacoma.

An addition opened in 1997 created more room for the University of Washington, Tacoma, Library. A chandelier by the local glass artist, Dale Chihuly, hangs in the addition.
