Melvyn Haber, who bought the Ingleside Inn in 04/1975, opened Melvyn's Restaurant to cater to a conservative and wealthy Palm Springs clientele. The restaurant and refurbished inn opened in 09/1975.

Melvyn Haber, owner of the inn, built his fortune controlling Wallfrin Industries, a maker of automotive accessories. The bar connected with Melvyn's is known as the Casablanca Lounge.
