Building History
The Los Angeles Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) Building originally was located in a residence on Spring Street. It contained 6 rooms for program and lunchroom for working women. Classes were also given in cooking, languages, stenography and elocution.

In 1896, officers in the YWCA included Mrs. Z.D. Mathuss, president, Mrs. Rose T. Bullard, first vice-president, Miss E.F. Rider, second vice-president, Mrs. W.C. Patterson, treasurer, Mrs. L.A.
