On 09/10/1966, the Seattle Public Library (SPL) opened its first full-fledged library in the Rainier Beach neighborhood at 9250 57th Avenue South. The SPL operated this branch from 1966-1973, before leasing a vacant Sea-First bank branch at 9250 57th Avenue South.
