This redwood-frame school replaced the Bouick Farmhouse, where public instruction began in San Anselmo, CA. The new Main School contained two rooms originally, but expansion in 1907 required a second floor to be added. Expansion of the district occurred in 1907 due to the migration of San Franciscans to Contra Costa and Marin Counties following the Great Earthquake of 04/18/1906.

An addition was made in 1907.

Demolished in 1922 to make way for a small brick schoolhouse. It was demolished by local contractor, James Leach; Leach reused the redwood lumber used in the Main School to produce houses in the community.
