The Pacific Theatres chain opened the $1 million Tacoma Mall Theatre on 04/16/1968; in the beginning, it had 70 mm Cinerama projection equipment. An identical version of the Tacoma theatre was supposedly built in Lakewood, CA, contemporaneously.

Four large glass chandeliers--each costing $6,000 and imported from Belgium--graced the lobby of the Tacoma Theatre; owners of Seattle's Showbox and Northgate Music Theatres purchased the lights.

The single original auditorium, seating 1,100, was divided into two in 1974, one holding 700, the other 400.

Demolished; demolition occurred after the theatre was closed by its owner, Loew's, in 07/2002.
