William Randolph Hearst purchased the abandoned monastery of Santa Maria de Ovila in Spain, had it disassembled and shipped to the US, for reconstruction as part of a museum of medieval art. He donated it to the City of San Francisco. Much of it burned and the project was abandoned. Julia Morgan's involvement with the museum project was her last major commission.

Unbuilt.
