The City of Kirkland approved a redevelopment effort undertaken by Developers Diversified Realty of Beachwood, OH, in 01/2006; this firm promised the city that it would bring in more than 1 million square feet of retail, office and residential space to the site. Stores in the complex were to have begun operations in 2010; in 2008, this timetable was very much in doubt.
