This facility operated from 1911-1947 as the Multnomah County Poor Farm; its name was changed in 1947 to the "Multnomah County Home and Farm." Multnomah County closed the farm in the late 1950s; the county operated it as the Edgefield Manor retirement home from 1962-1982. Between 1990-1994, McMenamin's began the staged purchase of the property from Multnomah County, gradually renovating it as a hotel and entertainment complex.

The Portland-based McMenamin's restaurant chain renovated this former nursing home to accommodate 100 guest rooms along with a host of other guest amenities, including a brew pub, movie theatre, winery, golf course and a restaurant.
