Structure Type: built works - dwellings - houses
Designers: Ain and Agron, Associated Architects (firm); George Abraham Agron (architect); Gregory Ain (architect)
Dates: constructed 1939
Ain designed this inexpensive, $4,900 house for Urcel Daniel, a single woman. The house occupied a very steep site on fill, making it a seismic engineering challenge. Some of the cost of the house went into foundation work, in which caissons were constructed down to solid ground. Unlike most of his other work of the period, the Daniel House was required by tract covenenants to have a sloping roof.
